In June earlier this year, Principal Analisse Taft collaborated with Cover Magazine and GoodWeave to gather twenty principals from New York City's top interior design and architecture firms at our ALT for Living showroom to discuss child-labor within the rug weaving industry as well as initiatives to eradicate its presence.
As ardent supporters of GoodWeave ourselves, we asked each invitee to demonstrate their continual support by creating their own signature rug design to be judged by our panel of talented textile designers. If chosen as the winner, their rug would be produced at a GoodWeave certified mill to be sold at ALT for Living. For every sale, the majority of profits will go to GoodWeave. Because we couldn't limit our favorite to just one, we decided to choose three top talents: Robert Couturier, Shawn Henderson and Meyer Davis.
Thank you to Cover Magazine for sharing the competition in their most recent issue (Winter 2014) and to Meyer Davis' for describing the inspiration behind their beautiful rug design.
